What Vitamin D is:

  • It’s not really even a vitamin – it’s a hormone in the end.
  • Mammals (such as us) make it in our body from sun
  • Vitamin D is vital for the health of every body.
  • light exposure.
  • Northerners even developed fair skin with less melanin, which maximized their ability to produce vitamin D from less sunlight than those living closer to the equator.

What Vitamin D Does:

  • It regulates the levels of calcium and phosphate in the bloodstream.
  • It promotes strong, healthy bones.
  • It plays a HUGE role in the body’s immune system response for defense against infections, bacteria, and other nasties.
  • It reduces systemic, chronic inflammation.
    It plays a potential role in decreasing the risk of various types of cancers.
  • It has been shown to reduce osteoporosis.
  • It plays important roles in making sure your heart, brain, lungs, immune system, muscles, organs – and pretty much everything in your body – works well.
  • A lack of Vitamin D has been shown to be linked to a number of health issues, including: heart disease, various cancers, diabetes, auto-immune diseases, gout, chronic fatigue, Parkinson’s, poor dental health, Alzheimer’s, dementia, schizophrenia, fibromyalgia, MS, asthma, hypertension, glucose intolerance.

Where Does Vitamin D Come From:

  • Sunlight is what provides our body with Vitamin D.
  • If you don’t get enough daily sunlight exposure, then supplementation would be an alternative.
  • Foods alone provide very small amounts, usually not nearly enough Vitamin D for a healthy body.

What Is Fear?

Fear.  It’s a part of daily life.  Everyone has fears.  And there are a seemingly infinite variety of fears, whether it’s a fear of doing something new, fear about what other people think, fear of losing a job, fear that our kids won’t grow up to be better off than us, fears about our health….and an ocean of additional fearful thoughts that people have every day.

But, what is fear?

Re-reading the last part of the last sentence in the above paragraph again will give us a clue.

…an ocean of additional fearful THOUGHTS.

This is a key to fears.  They are thoughts.

How many thoughts do you have in any given day?  According to the National Science Foundation, the average person has about 50,000 thoughts per day.   That holds the potential for a lot of fearful thinking going on!

how does one stop these fearful thoughts?

To grasp how to move beyond fears, we need to understand how fears come about in the first place.

Firstly, our body is a sensing organism…like an antenna.  All the energies flowing within and around us are received as data through the body’s senses or “antennae.”

Secondly, our mind is a data filtering tool that labels, organizes, and otherwise makes sense of what the body is receiving as data. Put another way, the mind characterizes the incoming energies we sense with our body.  How the mind does this is based on our past experience.

This is a key:  The mind works based on our past, and what we’ve been focusing our energy on determines how the mind processes the incoming data. Any data that the mind doesn’t know what to do with is either ignored, labeled as false, or is lumped in with what the mind determines to be past data that is similar.

Thirdly, the human being, overall, is designed to create.  The being takes all the incoming sensory data and information and uses it to create.

Creating has nothing to do with the past, except to utilize components of the past, combined with current incoming sensory data, to create something new.

Creation, for which we are designed, is concerned with, and focused on, the now and the new…not the past.

So…how do we go from having fearful thoughts to thinking, feeling, and being more confident?

In a word: Focus.

The mind filters all current incoming data based upon programming from what we’ve been focusing on.  And, left without supervision, the mind will continue circling in the past forever.

We break the mind out of its “rut” by utilizing the tool of focus.

This is a key.  How we program, or “tune,” the mind, is by what we focus our awareness on. Consciously changing what we focus on changes the mind’s programming, and changes our thoughts and how the data coming in from the body is filtered, sorted, and labeled.

As we change our focus, our filters get adjusted in the mind accordingly.  How the data is selected, processed, and labeled changes, resulting in a shift in our thoughts about our experience.

By using our power of focus, we are therefore much more in control of our mind, and what thoughts we have, than we realize.

Our mind is a tool for us to use.

This is worth repeating:  Our mind is a tool for us to use.

To shift from fearful thoughts to confident thoughts and beliefs, it is necessary for us to begin consciously using our mind as the tool it was designed to be for us…instead of allowing the mind to use us.

We have power over how we program our mind, and while reprogramming the mind takes effort, it is doable, as every happy, successful, and confident person will attest to.

What we think and believe ultimately determines what data is allowed into our awareness and how we characterize what we sense into thoughts.

Going a step deeper, what we choose to consciously focus on creates the filters that create our thoughts and beliefs – what our experience is, and how our experience gets labeled and organized.

Recognizing that our mind is based in the past, while we are meant to be in the now, creating for the future, we can see how, without consciously applied effort, our mind can keep us surrounded in limiting thoughts, beliefs, and fears.

Staying On Track With Your Goals

GoalsAs we’re moving into the 3rd month of the year, this is a great time to take stock of where you are in relation to your New Year’s Resolutions and your Goals. Here are some tips, which I hope will help you stay on track and persevere:

1) REVISIT your plan. What did you decide to do? If you are on track, GREAT! If not, where have you fallen short?

2) RE-CONFIGURE your plan. Take a hard look in the mirror. Ask yourself the HARD questions. Make a renewed commitment to getting yourself on track towards your goals.

3) RE-ENERGIZE: Forgive yourself if Continue reading

you have fallen short. Get out your day-timer / planner. Time-block those important activities that move you closer to your goals. Then, take ACTION!

4) RESOURCES: Examine your current resources, and seek out those new ones which bring you closer to your goals. Books, Blogs, websites, friends and your professional network are all GREAT resources to move you forward.

5) REVIEW: Keep a daily journal. Monitor your accomplishments and setbacks regularly. Strive for MORE accomplishments and FEWER setbacks.

Staying the course requires fortitude and courage. Take small steps, one at a time, move through the uncertainties, and before you know it, you’ll be well on your way to meeting your goals and resolutions.

get caught up in a daily routine.  To drown in the minutia of getting things done…meetings, deadlines, working, taking care of others, and trying to catch just enough sleep before waking up and doing it all again.

Stop.  Just stop.  Take a little break.  Take a deep breath.  Relax with me just a minute. 

Now look around?  What do you see?  Who are you with?

Are you surrounded by co-workers?  Despite work-based roles, these are people like you…human beings striving for the best existence possible. You have more in common than you might imagine.

Are you with your parents? These are the people who represent your roots.  They gave you life and whether they were great parents or lousy parents, they set you forth on your path.

Are you with your kids? Yes, maybe they drive you nuts sometimes, but even the wildest child is adorable when asleep. (I know I was!)  Your little ones are your legacy.  Every ounce of love you pour into them shapes a whole new life.

Are you with friends?  These are your chosen companions along your journey.  They are those special people who laugh with you, inspire you, share with you, and pick you up when you need it.

Are you with your soul mate?  This is a person that walks alongside you on your everyday path…a person who connects very deeply with you.  They co-author the story of your life.

Are you with your pet? This is the purest form of unconditional love.  Your pets trust you with their very existence.  In return for sustenance and shelter, they give you infinite, uncomplicated adoration.  You are the center of their universe.  

Are you with yourself?  Being alone with yourself is quite different than being lonely.  Lonely implies that you are cut-off, disconnected, isolated…and you are not.  You are part of an amazingly alive universe that is constantly moving, shifting, and transforming in unique and wonderful ways!

You are an integral part of the Universal dance. 

Step outside, feel the breeze, blink at the sunlight.

Breathe deeply and know that you are in the presence of Source.

Love is all around you.

The Fear Of Money

I wear many hats these days.  I’m a speaker, an author, a Life & Wellness Coach, a CranioSacral Therapist, an educator… but really at the core of it all – I am a healer.

So you might wonder why, as a healer, am I sending you an email about money?

It’s simple. A lack of money can negatively impact your health and overall well-being.  Since my mission in life is to contribute to your continuing optimal health and well-being, I would like to share with you some insights about money.

more powerful than your work ethic, the hours you put in, or even the education or training you have.

With few exceptions, most people want more money.  Money enables us to live in a secure home, to feed ourselves and our family, to maintain our health, to clothe and educate ourselves, and even sleep more soundly at night, knowing all is well taken care of.  Still, many of us deem money as evil and/or consider a desire for money to be wrong or a moral weakness.

Consider the word “abundance”.  While this is a valid term and inherently represents more than just monetary wealth, it’s used by some as a feel-good replacement label for the word money.  Why is that..?

We’ve grown afraid of money.Money

On one hand, we desire money in a practical sense, on the other we judge ourselves harshly for wanting money.

How do you balance an “attitude of gratitude” with “Please Universe, may I have some more?”  Many people, trying to focus on gratitude, have developed a sense of guilt in desiring money.

Some try to solve this by using the term “abundance” in place of the word “money.”  Others compromise with money, by asking for “just enough”.  But the underlying negative or fearful attitudes toward money are still there and are controlling your cash-flow.

Having conflicted feelings about money is often experienced by those who are pursuing a spiritual path.  And there are some who find themselves in a position of lack and choose to resent those who have more, developing a hateful attitude towards people who seem to have plenty of money. Instead of celebrating the fact that money is flowing all around and shifting their belief systems to enable themselves to tap into that flow, they criminalize wealth, condemn the rich, and curse money as the root of all evil.  Have these thoughts ever crossed your mind?

If you feel negative about money and the concept of having money, how can you ever attract more of it into your life?

Your beliefs impact the fullness of your pocket.  Is your pocket rustling with pictures of presidents or holding a lint reunion?   If you have more lint than presidents, it may be time to take a long, honest look at your feelings and viewpoints about money.

Lack of money can lead to frustration, stress, anxiety, conflict in relationships, and poor health.  Achieving wellness means that you’re healthy in all areas of your life: physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, social, and economic.

Money problems, like a disease, will make you sick.

The good news is that just like many diseases; a lack of money is both preventable and curable!

Your Desires Can Become Reality

  • A mother, anxious about her children’s imminent departure to college, worked through her emotions, grounded herself in peace and calm, and learned tools to keep her kids true to themselves in their new environment.
  • A professional, overwhelmed with worry and a busy life, released stress, cleared barriers, and shared feeling twenty pounds lighter at the end of the day.

Today, there is a group of people who are no longerwishing for a better life...
They are, right now,living their desired life –their desires have become their reality.

These are just a few of the powerful shifts that resulted in desires becoming reality!  It is an incredible privilege and humbling experience to facilitate this kind of personal transformation.

We are created to live with joy, with health, and in abundance.  That is the true nature of our Being.

When we get off track, or sidelined by an overwhelming experience that traps us in fear or uncertainty, that’s when we need someone to help us find our way back to our truth.  I am honored to have been that person for the wonderful, precious attendees on Jan 19th.  I will be honored to be that facilitator of positive, lasting change for you.

We create our reality every day.  Every decision we make, every time we take on a limiting point of view, we reinforce belief systems that hold us back from living the life we truly desire.  In times of stress, anxiety, fear, or doubt, we block our own internal guidance and become more and more disconnected from our truth — and from a healthy, joyful, abundant life.

Opening To Possibilities

 Do you remember your first bike?

Imagine that your first bike was a beautiful Strawberry Shortcake, banana seat, one-speed with a white basket and a bell. You found new freedom by venturing out of your parents view to ride the around the block.   You dinged your bell, pedaled your heart out to feel the breeze in your face, and laughed with glee when speeding downhill.  Your bike brought you joy and adventures.

, you received a new bike.  While you may have missed that basket from time to time, the coolness of your new, slim, ten-speed bike quickly made up for any lack of storage.  Suddenly, you were setting new speed records for riding around the block.  You felt powerful, sleek, and fast.   Even though you were riding around the same ol’ block, you were experiencing a whole new level of joy.  You weren’t stuck in one speed anymore.  You could go so much faster with less effort on your new bike because you shifted.

As a Healer and Life & Wellness Coach, I find that being able to shift our view of our self and our surrounds is fundamental toward achieving greater joy, wellness, and abundance in life.  Shifting is the ability to get into a new gear and open yourself up to new possibilities, even when circumstances in life remain the same.

Shifting creates the changes you need to reach the next level of your desired life experience.

While there is an infinite amount of positive energy just waiting for you to reach for it, step into it, and be a part of it, often we are so bogged down in what we consider our reality, that we don’t realize that what we truly desire is right there…within our reach.  All we have to do is shift gears!

Here’s an example:  I recently needed a certain type of service provider.  After doing an online search, I discovered that the best place was just a mile from my home.  I had driven by this establishment hundreds of times, yet I had never really seen it.  It wasn’t part of my reality or awareness.   Once my awareness shifted, voila!  there was my solution both close and convenient!

Shifting can be as easy as changing your awareness.  Opening your eyes and mind and absorbing more of what is around you.

On the other hand, sometimes being able to shift your view of things can prove to be more elusive, and you need to learn effective ways to move beyond your limited reality to become aware of more…more of what is truly possible in your life!

Learning to live more joyfully, with ease and gratitude, can be one of the most fulfilling discoveries of your life!

Everything you desire is available to you.  The question is, are you open to possibilities?
